Weekly Activities for Seniors at
The Residence at St. Peter's

Bingo Mondays

There’s no better way for our residents to kick off each week! This engaging game provides mental stimulation, improves cognitive function and supports memory recall for seniors. Not to mention, the social aspect of bingo fosters camaraderie among residents, helping to alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation – which can be extremely common to this population. The light-hearted competition combined with the thrill of potentially winning prizes, bring an extra level of excitement to The Residence.

Painting Tuesdays

are a creative outlet for our seniors, offering numerous mental and emotional benefits. Participating in a painting class each week helps to reduce stress and promote relaxation, providing a therapeutic experience that can improve overall well-being as time goes on. Painting also encourages self-expression and boosts self-esteem, as our residents take pride in their creations.

Yoga Wednesdays

provide an accessible and gentle form of exercise for our seniors. Chair yoga helps to improve strength, balance, flexibility and mobility, which are crucial for maintaining independence and preventing falls. Additionally, the practice includes breathing exercises and mindfulness techniques that reduce stress and enhance mental clarity. The supportive group setting encourages participation and fosters a sense of belonging among our community here.

Senior Social Hour

is an excellent opportunity for our residents to connect and socialize each Friday. Regular social interaction is vital for the mental and emotional well-being of each senior –   helping to keep loneliness and depression away. These social gatherings encourage the sharing of stories, experiences, and laughter, which help create new friendships among residents. The joy and sense of purpose that come from these interactions is truly priceless and invaluable to the state of mind of each of our beloved seniors.

Volunteer Visits

We have a handful of local volunteers that love to come visit our senior residents on Saturdays! These visits usually include sharing a meal together in our community dining room, playing games together or even our volunteers teaching them a new valuable skill. However our volunteers and residents decide to spend their time together – one thing is for certain – they’re bound to have fun!

Daily Mass

Daily and Sunday mass is offered at St. Peter the Apostle Church, located on the same campus. Residents like Rosa and Mary Ellen like to attend daily mass together. Everyday, Mary Ellen asks Rosa if she would like to walk with her to church. On days where Rosa isn’t up for the walk, she responds with, “It’s not good to bother God everyday.” Whether residents would like to go everyday or just on Sundays, mass is just a short walk away from resident rooms.
